The controversial, US and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) says it is winding down its humanitarian work in the Palestinian territory, after almost six months.

The organisation had already suspended its multiple aid distribution centers in Gaza subsequent to the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel was implemented six weeks ago.

The organization attempted to bypass the UN as the primary provider of aid to Gaza's population.

UN and other aid agencies declined to participate with its system, saying it was improper and dangerous.

Numerous Gazans were lost their lives while trying to acquire nourishment amid turbulent circumstances near the organization's distribution points, mostly by Israeli fire, based on UN documentation.

Israeli authorities stated its forces fired alerting fire.

Operation Conclusion

The foundation announced on recently that it was concluding activities now because of the "effective conclusion of its humanitarian effort", with a aggregate of 3 million parcels containing the equivalent of more than 187 million meals provided to residents.

The GHF's executive director, the executive director, additionally stated the American-directed Civil-Military Coordination Center - which has been established to help execute US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan - would be "implementing and enlarging the system the foundation tested".

"The organization's system, in which Palestinian factions were unable to divert and benefit from humanitarian assistance, had major impact in convincing militant groups to participate and securing a halt in hostilities."

Reactions and Responses

The militant group - which disputes allegations of misappropriation - approved the termination of the aid organization, according to reports.

An official from declared GHF should be made responsible for the negative impact it created to local residents.

"We request all international human rights organisations to guarantee that responsibility is assigned after leading to casualties and wounds of many residents and obscuring the starvation policy practised by the Israeli government."

Organization Timeline

The GHF began operations in Gaza on 26 May, a seven days following the Israeli government had moderately reduced a comprehensive closure on humanitarian and trade shipments to Gaza that lasted 11 weeks and caused severe shortages of essential supplies.

Three months later, a nutritional emergency was proclaimed in the Palestinian urban center.

The GHF's food distribution sites in various parts of the Palestinian territory were managed by US private security contractors and positioned in regions under Israeli military authority.

Humanitarian Concerns

International organizations and their affiliates stated the approach violated the core assistance standards of non-partisanship, even-handedness and self-determination, and that directing needy individuals into military-controlled areas was inherently unsafe.

United Nations human rights division said it recorded the deaths of a minimum of 859 residents attempting to obtain nourishment in the vicinity of GHF sites between late May through end of July.

Another 514 people were fatally wounded around the courses followed by international humanitarian deliveries, it also mentioned.

Most of them were lost their lives due to the Israel's armed forces, as per the organization's documentation.

Contrasting Reports

The Israeli military said its soldiers had fired warning shots at individuals who came near them in a "intimidating" manner.

The GHF said there were no shootings at the distribution centers and claimed the international organization of using "untrue and confusing" figures from the Gazan medical department controlled by militant factions.

Ongoing Situation

The organization's continuation had been unclear since Palestinian factions and Israeli authorities consented a ceasefire deal to carry out the first phase of the American administration's peace initiative.

The agreement stated humanitarian assistance would take place "free from intervention from the both sides through the international bodies and their affiliates, and the Red Crescent, in addition to other global organizations not connected in any way" with militant groups and the Israeli government.

UN spokesperson the UN spokesman stated recently that the GHF's shutdown would have "no impact" on its operations "as we never partnered with them".

He also said that while more aid was getting into Gaza since the halt in hostilities began on 10 October, it was "insufficient to address all necessities" of the 2.1 million population.
